Books part Mystery and part History

I love to read it is one of my favorite things to do. Sometime I forget to sleep at night because I want to find out what happens next. My favorite books are the ones with a lot of mystery and a little bit of history in them. Like Dan Brown's Angel and Demons, Symbol, and the DaVinci Code. Steven Berry who wrote Venetian Betrayal, The Amber room, and Charlamagne Pursuit. Clive Clussler who wrote the Serpent, The Navigator, The Spy, and Night Probe. Each of these books got me to the Internet to search out other books that could give me some solid facts about the historic realities mentioned in the fictional books I love to read. Some of them also mention the books used to research the story in the book. Which gave me a place to start reading and make my own decision on what I wanted to believe about the theories mentioned in some of the books.

These are the type of books I enjoy because they not only teach a little bit of history but especially the Clive Clussler Series teaches about the environment and the problems that can occur if we don't watch out. A year or so ago there was an algae problem in the Alaska area and I wouldn't have paid any attention to it if it hadn't been for Clussler and the dramatic theoretical possibilities of some of the algae in his books. He also mentioned in a few of his books how fresh water is becoming a sacred commodity in some states. I see that every year in Midland, Texas where they are always trying to find a way to get the right to some lake close by to be used as their fresh water source for drinking water. Books and authors can teach us a lot if we choose to learn it just a matter of picking up a book any book opening it up and reading.

Breakfast and Cereals

Breakfast and cereal have gone together since the beginning of time. However they were never a favorite of mine. I would make a big breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast for my ex-husband when we were married. After he was finished he would eat a bowl of his favorite cereal Cherrios and milk. It never failed so I stopped making the big breakfast just didn't seem worth it. In the long run the cereal was probably better for him health wise then the one I cooked for him. I tried to find my own cereal but at the time there were none out there.

Twenty years later I have found a granola cereal with my three favorite things in it nuts, raisons, and dates add a little bit apple juice to the combination and you can't beat it. Then I discover yogurt which I was not a big fan of until I discovered the joy of mixing it with Cereal. Yep you heard me granola cereal to be exact. There are two granola cereals I like the most Post Great Grains and Sunbelt fruit and nut cereal.

Dishwashing machines today and in the past

When I was growing up the dishwashing machine in my house was my Mom and the dryer was my brother or I. When I grew up and got married my husband and I moved into an apartment with a dishwashing machine. A real machine that washed dishes, that was the best machine a person had ever invented. That one machine did so much for me I didn’t have to stand there for 30 minutes washing the dishes and drying them instead I could stack them in the machine and let the machine do the work for me while I went out and walked the dog, went shopping, or took the kids to school and to after school activities. It was the best machine I never knew how great it was until I didn’t have one again and I was back to washing dishes by hand because the house I was back into was my Mom’s.

Things like that happen in life you grow up, get married, have kids, get divorce, and move back home to help out your Mom. The circle of life you start out in your parents home and some come back to help the parents that gave you life. Isn’t it amazing how events shape our lives and futures? That something so insignificant as a dishwashing machine can stand out so prominent in you mind as being important to you. Yet it is something I think about every time I look at the stack of dirty dishes I need to do. And before I start cooking I try to use as few dishes as possible because I know I’m just going to have to wash them when I’m done.
